The library’s collection contains literature on the history of the development of Russian and global art. Some of the oldest pieces in the collection are ancient Russian manuscripts dating as far back as the 11th century. The State Tretyakov Gallery itself is one of the biggest art galleries in Russia. It was founded in 1856 in Moscow by the Tretyakov brothers, whose private art collections became its core.

The Library of Science at the State Tretyakov Gallery was created in 1899 after Pavel Tretyakov bequeathed a part of his book collection to the gallery. One cannot overstate the honor of our Russian icon catalog being included in the collection of this library.

Since its release, “Russian Icons from the Mid-17th to the Early 20th Centuries: The Collection of Oleg Kushnirskiy” has already been added to the catalogs of numerous libraries across the country. Among these notable institutions are N.I. Lobachevsky Scientific Library, the Novgorod Regional Universal Scientific Library, the Library of the Moscow Orthodox Theological Academy, the Scientific Library of the State Hermitage Museum, the Library of the Moscow Kremlin Museums, and the Research Library of the Russian Academy of Arts.
