Antique Icons for Sale at Shapiro Spring Auction

Among the most valuable lots put up for sale this spring is a unique drawing by the prominent Austrian symbolist painter Gustav Klimt, titled “Half-Nude Reclining to the Right.” It is estimated at $100,000 – 150,000. Other highlights include paintings by such masters as Chaim Soutine, Vladimir Roskin, Konstantin Gorbatov, Mai Trung Thu, Henri Martin, Kees van Dongen, Le Pho, and Vu Cao Dam. Russian icon of the Savior Made Without Hands, also known as the Holy Mandylion. It comes in a beautiful gilt silver oklad decorated with cloisonné enamel. Moscow, 1891 – 1896.

The Feodorovskaya icon of the Mother of God, one of the most venerated icons of the Theotokos. This precious antique icon comes in a gilt silver oklad with hardstone and pearls. Moscow, 1895.
